In most classrooms, and across the district, students take part in several lessons and activities for Veterans Day to learn about the sacrifices of our veterans and what Veterans Day means. They make thank you cards and create flags to show their pride.
This year, Dix Street's Student Council decided to go one step further and help those wounded. They hosted a coin war for Veterans Day. Students had two weeks to bring in coins for the Wounded Warrior Project. "We are proud to say that they will be donating $1,021 to the charity!" shares Heather Phillips, Student Council advisor.
